PROJECT
Barrington Tops Mulching Works
DATE
12/02/18 – 16/02/18
LOCATION
West of Gloucester – Barrington Tops National Park
Fortade were engaged to conduct mulching works along roadways within the Barrington Tops National Park in mid-February. Our experienced heavy vehicle float driver was able to move our 13-tonne wheeled excavator and our 17-tonne wheeled excavator with one of Fortades Prime movers and the Low Loader Float trailer, to the location in preparation of the weeks work. With an early start, our guys travelled to the location and after a safety briefing, were able to check over their machines and begin work. The benefit of using the rubber tyres wheeled excavators was that the machine was able to move quicker over the roads with lower disruption to the road surface making it an ideal item of plant to do this type of work.
Added to this is the ability to use the excavator boom, with the mulching head attachment, makes the excavator able to reach to get the clearance distances required. These works assist in keeping the roadways open and clear of vegetation to allow easy vehicular movements and overall maintenance of the roads. This is the second time Fortade has been engaged to undertake this type of work in this location and each time, our workers appreciate the serenity and importance of the vegetation management in a highly significant environmental area. East Coast Traffic Management Pty Ltd supplied the traffic management and traffic control for the job, to make sure our operators and local vehicular traffic were kept safe.
