With the project spanning over three weeks, Fortade with the assistance of specialist sub-contractors were able to complete the works on time and within budget. The works consisted of rail track formation reconditioning of 140m, spoil distribution, installation of sub-soil drainage then installation of rail and track resurfacing.
This was achieved under the direction of Project Manager, Brad Fortescue and night shift supervisor, Wayne Pade with a crew of over 30 specialist rail people including Fortade rail workers who are authorised to conduct works within the Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) rail corridor. Fortade’s Rail Protection Officers were crucial in supplying the safety brief and monitoring our workers safety during all works including during the shutdown period.
The project was overseen by ARTC representatives at all times with an audit of the site carried out during the works. Of special mention is the Kendall Tennis Club who were very supportive of the works. Especially to Wendy who offered the club house for the site induction meeting and canteen facilities. Fortade wishes them well with the future extensions and appreciate the contact and use of the clubhouse.
Overall, Fortade would like to thank the Kendall community for their patience during the works, our sub-contractors and their professionalism with their work, our staff who we entrust to get the job done as professionally as they do but importantly, Australian Rail Track Corporation for entrusting Fortade with the update of this extremely important piece of rail infrastructure.
